Sigma Upsilon Chapter at Indiana University

Kappa Delta

Our Chapter

Kappa Delta Sorority finds much of its strength as an organization in supporting various philanthropic endeavors.  Not only does our sorority aim to better the lives of its members through lifelong friendship and support, but also KD aims to help those most in need and better our communities through philanthropy and community service. Kappa Delta Sorority supports four national philanthropies including Prevent Child Abuse America, Girl Scouts of the USA, the Orthopedic Research Awards, and the Children’s Hospital of Richmond Virginia. Kappa Delta Sorority has also created its own national initiative called the Confidence Coalition to address the many self-esteem issues that girls and women face today.

The Sigma Upsilon chapter at Indiana University supports all the wonderful philanthropies of our national organization. To better our Bloomington community, the Sigma Upsilon chapter works closely with many area Girl Scout troops and holds an annual Shamrock event to raise money benefiting Prevent Child Abuse America, Prevent Child Abuse Indianapolis, and the Middle Way House, a women’s shelter in Bloomington, Indiana. Sigma Upsilon has also taken a special interest in promoting the Confidence Coalition across IUs campus, as it is a chapter-wide philosophy that all women should be reminded how wonderful they truly are!

The Indiana University Dance Marathon is a very popular organization and event on IUs campus, one that our members of Kappa Delta continue to be very involved in. IUDM is an entirely student run organization that has been raising money for 21 years benefitting the Ryan White Infectious Disease Center at Riley Hospital for Children. The event is a 36-hour weekend marathon of standing in honor of those children who cannot stand for themselves. IUDM has raised over $10 million for the children at Riley Hospital in the past 21 years.
Every year Kappa Deltas throw themselves into the marathon by raising money and leading the organization as committee members. Over the past three years alone, Kappa Delta has raised over $60,000 dollars for the organization and has over 150 women participate in the event. IUDM is an organization close to the hearts of many in Bloomington, at IU, and in Kappa Delta and it is something Sigma Upsilon is very proud to be a part of.
